YOUR LOCATION APP FOR ANDROID.

SOMEWHERE
IS HERE.

Kreuzberg or already Neukölln? “Wo bin ich?” shows your location, district and locality. The Android app identifies Berlin boundaries even offline — from your neighbourhood to the bigger picture.

003 — BERLIN, WE HAVE SOMETHING FOR YOU.

“Which district
are we actually
in right now?”

We know the question. So your district takes the spotlight. Using official Berlin boundaries, the app also finds your locality — right on your device.

  • 01

A district is not a locality.

Kreuzberg is a locality. Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg is the district. You get both.

  • 02

    No connection? Still here.

Berlin’s boundaries come with the app. Once your device gets a location fix, it can find your district without the internet.

  • 03

    Precise, with honest uncertainty.

You see the reported accuracy. If a district boundary falls within that range, the app tells you.

Questions?
Right here.

Your location raises questions. Let’s make it simple.

Which Berlin district am I in right now?

Open “Wo bin ich?” and start a location search. Once your device finds a location, the app checks it against official Berlin boundaries. You see your district and locality — for example, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and Kreuzberg. The location display on this page is an example. The website does not request your location.

What is the difference between a district, locality and Kiez?

Berlin has 12 districts and 97 localities. Kreuzberg is a locality within the district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. A Kiez is an everyday name for a neighbourhood whose boundaries are not always clearly defined. The app shows official districts and localities.

Can I find my location without the internet?

With a location fix, the app can identify Berlin districts and localities without the internet: the boundaries are stored on your device. A location signal, such as GPS, is still needed. Additional street addresses and new AI stories require an internet connection.

Does the app work outside Berlin?

Yes. With an internet connection, an address service adds available levels such as street, city, county, state and country. The result depends on the location and the data supplied. Official offline district and locality matching is limited to Berlin.

How accurate is the result near a district boundary?

The app considers the accuracy reported by your device. If that area crosses a boundary, it marks the result as uncertain. Location reception and granting only approximate location access can affect accuracy.

How can I install the Android app?

“Wo bin ich?” is currently in internal testing on Google Play. Only approved testers using the correct Google account can download it. You need Android 8 or later. A public release and an iPhone version are not yet available.

Privacy & data sources

This website uses no analytics tools, external fonts or cookies. You choose the language through the German or English page address. Your browser sends connection data, such as your IP address, to our server. Our reverse proxy stores access and error logs; rotation details are in the privacy notice. Opening Google Play is subject to Google’s privacy terms.

The app resolves Berlin districts and localities on-device. To enrich the result with an address, it sends coordinates over HTTPS to wobinich.lol and onward to the active address service: Google Maps Platform, or Nominatim as a fallback. Our API caches rounded coordinates and addresses in memory for up to 15 minutes plus at most 30 seconds for cleanup. There is no automatic location tracking. Optional AI stories are saved after consent, locally and for up to 90 days on the server; the original location request is not persisted.
